CLUB CULTURE HUB – RESILIENT FUTURES

Shared visions for social sustainability and future viability of Berlin’s club culture

A Clubcommission networking event by Awareness Akademie, Beratungsangebot and Free Open Air Initiative with workshops, on site counseling and a panel discussion.

Join us for Clubcommission’s full day networking event with expertise by our long-term projects Awareness Akademie, Free Open Air Initiative and Consulting.

This event, true to the spirit of the Club Culture Hub, aims to bring people together, share knowledge, offer practical tools and discuss resilient futures for club culture through workshops, on-site counseling, a panel and networking opportunities.

How can we strengthen and expand existing structures while creating space for new ideas, care practices and sustainable ways of working? And how can the Club Culture Hub actively support this process?

WHEN: Thursday, December 4, 2pm – 9pm

WHERE: Tresor/ Globus, Köpenickerstraße 70, 10179 Berlin

We’ll bring these threads together with an afternoon of workshops and on-site counseling, followed by an evening panel discussion and networking session with free food, coffee and cold drinks.

The Club Culture Hub team will be present and available all day. There will be plenty of opportunities to mingle and network with cake and coffee during the workshop sessions. The event will be held in English and German. Translation services will be available.

WORKSHOPS

2-4pm How to Awareness Concept by Roses of Care

How do we create safer, more inclusive, and accountable spaces – not only at events, but also within our own collectives and organisations? Which will then reflect and expand to the events and spaces we create. Clubs, cultural spaces, and collectives often recognise the need for awareness concepts and structures but struggle with where to begin, how to build them, or how to make them sustainable. This short introduction workshop is designed as a space to support clubs, event organisers, and collectives in developing or reworking their awareness concepts and structures.

4-6pm Workshop “How to build a (temporary) club?” – with Jakob Turtur (Jonny Knüppel) & Martin Fuller  (Academy for Subcultural Understanding at Tresor)

You want to build a club, set up a temporary venue, or create a community space? This workshop guides participants through the essential foundations of a clear and authentic concept, covering core elements such as vision and mission, spatial identity, target audience, branding, musical profile, and key considerations for sound, lighting and sustainability. Building on this conceptual groundwork, the workshop also explores the practical dimensions of infrastructure, approval procedures, and location scouting, offering support for both new initiatives and the further development of existing projects.

Shaping What’s Next: Perspectives on the Future of Berlin’s Club Culture

At a time of rapid social, political, and economic transformation, this panel brings together pioneering and emerging voices from Berlin’s nightlife to explore how the city’s club culture can respond to ongoing challenges such as the loss of free space, rising rents, commercialization, and shifting cultural conditions.

Instead of focusing on crisis, this discussion invites collective imagination:
What have we lost or neglected? What needs to be reclaimed? What could an ideal, resilient club culture look like in the future of Berlin?

We discuss how club operators and workers as well as community organizers and collectives can build sustainable structures, preserve spaces for marginalized groups, and develop more independent models.

As established clubs close and new underground spaces emerge on the edges of the city, Berlin’s nightlife is entering a period of transition. This conversation investigates what these shifts mean for access, creativity, and the long-term sustainability of the scene, and how we can shape a future in which club culture remains self-determined, inclusive, and alive.
