Call for Proposals: Development of the "Awareness & Diversity" Foundational Module

Development of the content and curriculum for the “Foundations Module,” including the three advanced modules: “Gender/Gender Identity,” “Ethnic Origin/Racial Categorization,” and “Sexual Identity”

BACKGROUND

Berlin’s nightlife scene is characterized by its diverse offerings and is known both nationally and internationally for being open and tolerant. At the same time, however, studies and personal accounts show that discrimination regularly occurs in nightclubs and bars. Some venues are already addressing the issues of awareness and diversity, while others intend to do so in the future. However, just as diverse as Berlin’s club and nightlife culture is, so too are the levels of knowledge and experience regarding diversity, awareness-raising efforts, and equality measures among the individual stakeholders.

The project “Diversity-Friendly Nightlife in Berlin”—DAB for short—aims to help promote respectful and discrimination-sensitive practices at Berlin venues, reduce discrimination, and support groups affected by discrimination.

The training program “Awareness & Diversity Competence in Club Culture” was developed during the 2020 project year with input from subject matter and field experts, and a preliminary outline is now available. The goal of the comprehensive training series “Awareness and Diversity Competence in Club Culture” is to support the various stakeholders in club culture, as well as entire clubs and venues, in expanding their awareness and diversity competence. The training series combines theory and practice by imparting fundamental knowledge on diversity and anti-discrimination and translating it into the various sectors and trades of club culture.

TIME FRAME

The scope of the contract is the development of a foundational module for the continuing education program “Awareness & Diversity Competence in Club Culture” and advanced modules on the three core dimensions:

  • Gender/Gender Identity
  • Ethnic origin/racial profiling
  • Incorporating sexual identity into the curriculum and conducting two pilot training sessions at each of two selected locations.

The introductory module is scheduled to take place in mid-July at the two pilot locations and will be evaluated afterward. The scope of the assignment includes overseeing the pilot training sessions and supporting the evaluation process.

FINANCIAL FRAMEWORK

A total budget of €5,000.00 (gross) has been allocated for the completion of the contract.
