In 2017, the Awareness & Diversity Working Group was formed within theClub Commissionto explore how to create environments that are as safe and diverse as possible within club and festival culture. The goal of a diverse and discrimination-sensitive club culture is very challenging and can only be achieved through continuous work on the issue and an open, constructive dialogue with all stakeholders. Thus, in 2020, the Club Commission launched the Awareness Academy, supported byMusicboard Berlin. Today, it represents the Awareness & Diversity division of the Club Commission, which now implements a wide range of project activities, formats, and collaborations.
Since 2023, the Awareness Academy has been part of the Club Culture Hub run by Clubcommission Berlin e.V., funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion, Musicboard Berlin GmbH, and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the program “Strengthening Innovation Potential in Culture – INP-III.”
