Call for Proposals: Development of a Workshop on “Communication for the Door and Awareness Team” and Pilot Implementation
Development of a team-building workshop titled “How Can Communication Between Door and Awareness Teams Be Improved?” and a pilot implementation
BACKGROUND
Berlin’s nightlife scene is characterized by its diverse offerings and is known both nationally and internationally for being open and tolerant. At the same time, however, studies and personal accounts show that discrimination regularly occurs in nightclubs and bars. Some venues are already addressing the issues of awareness and diversity, while others intend to do so in the future. However, just as diverse as Berlin’s club and nightlife culture is, so too are the levels of knowledge and experience regarding diversity, awareness-raising efforts, and equality measures among the individual stakeholders.
The project “Diversity-Friendly Nightlife in Berlin”—DAB for short—aims to help promote respectful and discrimination-sensitive practices at Berlin venues, reduce discrimination, and support groups affected by discrimination.
Through a comprehensive approach to diversity, all staff groups and departments at the venues are taken into account. To establish structures that minimize discrimination at venues, intensive dialogue and effective communication among all stakeholders—including door staff, the awareness teams deployed at the venues, and other relevant personnel—are of great importance.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
The specific requirements for improved collaboration and communication (framework conditions, responsibilities, business processes, etc.) between door staff, the awareness teams deployed at the venues, and other involved personnel were discussed during the 2020 project period in a workshop with these specific target groups.
The scope of this contract is the development of a team-building initiative for venues aimed at improving communication and collaboration among staff members. The focus is on discrimination and awareness in the club context, and the initiative will be developed based on the results of a workshop conducted during the previous project year.
At a later date, team-building workshops are to be implemented on a pilot basis at two locations. However, this implementation is not the subject of this contract.
