New Project: Mental Health in Clubs

We are pleased to announce that the pilot phase of our "Mental Health in Clubs" project is launching today. In collaboration with Charité Berlin, the German Academy of Psychologists, the FernUniversität Hagen, and Berlin’s statutory health insurance providers, the project aims to strengthen employees’ resilience and promote structural changes in clubs. As part of this project, appropriate measures will be tested during the pilot phase and then made available to all clubs in Berlin. Psychosocial interventions are being developed for employees, and mindfulness-based workshops and training sessions will also be offered.

Night work and irregular sleep patterns, a blurred line between work and personal life, precarious employment conditions, and situations involving boundary violations and discrimination when interacting with guests—according to the results of seven focus group discussions, these are just some of the challenges club employees face… Anyone working in a club today is exposed to constant psychological pressure and stress, which can negatively impact daily life and lead to long-term consequences. Since there are currently few resources or strategies to address these consequences, the Clubcommission Berlin is asking how the mental health of nightlife workers can be protected in the future and how the organizational resilience of clubs can be strengthened.

The “Mental Health in Clubs” project is carried out in close collaboration with various partners from the fields of medicine and psychotherapy, whom we would like to introduce to you. All of our partners bring their own expertise to the project. Together with us, they share the goal of strengthening both the individual resilience of employees and the organizational resilience of the clubs.

This project is funded as part of the BMAS's INQA Experimental Space Projects and is financed by the Workplace Health Promotion Coordination Office.
