Online Training: "Introduction to Diversity and Non-Discriminatory Language in a Club Setting" for Club Staff and Security Personnel

Last year, as part of the Awareness Academy and in collaboration with the Berlin State Office for Equal Treatment – Against Discrimination (LADS), the Club Commission offered free pilot training sessions for Berlin-based club owners and staff, security personnel, and key figures in the club scene. This introductory training was conducted in five separate sessions involving a total of 25 different Berlin clubs, event organizers, collectives, and security firms.

This year, the Awareness Academy is once again offering a free course for club staff, employees, and security personnel working in club settings.

Monday, November 1 & Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day

Training objectives:

  • Raising awareness of forms of discrimination (with a focus on ethnic origin/racism) and aspects of diversity
  • Understanding the context, terminology, as well as the AGG and house rules
  • Identifying social stereotypes and attributions
  • Self-reflection on existing filters and behavioral patterns (focus on language and conflict resolution)
  • Discussion and peer consultation on case studies from one’s own practice (reflection through mutual dialogue)
  • Strengthening individual decision-making skills in everyday work

The training is led by two experienced diversity trainers and concludes with a certificate upon full participation.

Participation is free of charge, and space is limited.
