Online Training: "Non-Discriminatory Language and Diversity-Oriented Interactions in a Club Setting"

Last year,aspart of theAwareness Academyandin collaboration with the BerlinState Office for Equal Treatment – Against Discrimination (LADS), theClub Commissiondevelopedapilot training program for Berlin club owners and staff, security personnel, and key figures in the club culture scene. This introductory training was conducted in five separate sessions involving a total of 25 different Berlin clubs, event organizers, collectives, and security firms.

The Awareness Academy is now offering another free session, for which you can register starting today.

Monday, July 5, 2021, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

Training for club operators and individuals in management and leadership roles with personnel responsibilities within a club setting

Training objectives:

  • Raising awareness of forms of discrimination (with a focus on ethnic origin/racism) and aspects of diversity
  • Understanding the background, terminology, and the relationship between the AGG and property rights
  • Identifying social stereotypes and attributions
  • Raising awareness of the relationship between positions of power/authority and
    experiences of discrimination
  • Discussion of case studies and development of strategies for everyday work situations (focus on language and conflict resolution)

Wednesday, July 30 & Thursday, July 1, 2021, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day
Training for club staff, employees, and security personnel in a club setting

Training objectives:

  • Raising awareness of forms of discrimination (with a focus on ethnic origin/racism) and aspects of diversity
  • Understanding the context, terminology, as well as the AGG and house rules
  • Identifying social stereotypes and attributions
  • Self-reflection on existing filters and behavioral patterns (focus on language and conflict resolution)
  • Discussion and peer consultation on case studies from one’s own practice (reflection through mutual dialogue)
  • Strengthening individual decision-making skills in everyday work

The training sessions are led by two experienced diversity trainers and, upon full participation, conclude with the issuance of a certificate.
