Contract for Work and Services: Further Development of a Curriculum for the Advanced Module “Anti-Semitism”

  1. Background

Berlin’s nightlife scene is characterized by its diverse offerings and is known both nationally and internationally for being open and tolerant. At the same time, however, studies and personal accounts show that discrimination occurs regularly in bars and clubs. Some venues are already addressing the issues of awareness and diversity, while others intend to do so in the future. However, just as Berlin’s club and nightlife culture is diverse, so too are the levels of knowledge and experience regarding diversity, awareness-raising efforts, and equality measures among the individual stakeholders.

The “Diversity-Friendly Nightlife in Berlin” (DAB) project aims to help promote respectful and discrimination-sensitive practices at Berlin venues, reduce discrimination, and support groups affected by discrimination.

The training program “Awareness & Diversity Competence in Club Culture” was developed in collaboration with subject matter and field experts and has been offered since 2023. The goal of the comprehensive training series “Awareness & Diversity Competence in Club Culture” is to equip entire clubs and venues with awareness and diversity competence. The training program combines theory and practice by imparting fundamental knowledge on diversity and anti-discrimination and applying it to the various sectors and trades within club culture. In 2024, the training program was expanded to include the advanced module “Anti-Semitism,” which is now set to be revised once again.
