Online Workshop: Intersectionality and Anti-Discrimination in Nightlife and Club Culture

This advanced online workshop builds on the introductory session “Introduction to Diversity in the Club Context” or equivalent prior knowledge. It focuses on intersectionality—the ways in which different forms of discrimination and privilege (such as racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, classism, etc.) overlap and interact within nightlife spaces.

What to Expect:

  • Intersectionality Explained: Understand the origins and meaning of intersectionality, and how it applies to the club context.

  • Complex Identities: Explore how overlapping social identities shape people’s experiences of exclusion, visibility, and safety in nightlife.
  • From Theory to Practice: Work with real-life scenarios to identify how intersectionality can inform inclusive club policies and event design.
  • Transformative Action: Explore strategies to challenge structural discrimination and build truly inclusive cultural spaces.

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is for individuals who have already participated in the first session or have prior knowledge of diversity, power, and privilege. It is designed for those ready to delve deeper into structural change and intentional, intersectional practices in nightlife and club culture. If you have little or no prior knowledge, we recommend that you register for the workshop “Introduction to Diversity in the Club Context” in addition to or instead of this one.

Friday, May 23, from 3 to 7 p.m.
