Safer Club Culture Conference in Berlin

At the “Safer Club Culture Conference Berlin,” we aim to bring together key players in Berlin’s club culture who are essential to enabling and shaping real, practical change regarding anti-discrimination measures, barriers to access, diversity, and support for those affected. Together with all relevant stakeholders from clubs, collectives, and awareness and diversity initiatives in this context, we aim to develop, discuss, and agree on goals and measures for a safer club culture.

With the Awareness Academy’s first roundtable of the year, we have already taken the first step in this process and worked with key players in Berlin’s club scene to establish initial values and minimum standards. We now want to build on that.

As a starting point, we will draw on the results of the most recent roundtable discussion as well as the projects and initiatives of the Awareness Academy over the past few years. In addition, the initial findings of the Berlin Club Survey , which we will present on-site, will serve as another relevant foundation for this collaborative process.

Mit der Unterstützung von verschiedenen Erfahrungs- und Fachexpert:innen, werden wir zusammen in Gruppenarbeiten verschiedene Perspektiven wie unter anderem Awareness, Harm Reduction & Safer Use, Intersektionalität, (Gender) Diversity, Beschwerdemanagement & Community Accountability, Infrastruktur, Personal, Nachhaltigkeit und Türpolitik besprechen und uns einem Leitfaden für Safer Club Culture Berlin nähern.

At the “Conference for Safer Club Culture Berlin,” we aim to bring together key players from Berlin’s club culture who are essential for facilitating and shaping concrete and practical change processes regarding anti-discrimination measures, barriers to access, diversity, and support for those affected. Together with all relevant stakeholders from clubs, collectives, and awareness and diversity initiatives in this context, we want to develop, discuss, and agree on goals and measures for a safer club culture.
The aim is to work together toward a guideline or manifesto that can provide Berlin clubs and club culture stakeholders with actionable guidelines and direction on the one hand, and that the Club Commission can use as a basis for its cooperation with its members and in dialogue with policymakers and administrators on the other.

With the first roundtable of the Awareness Academy this year, we have already given this process an initial boost and developed the first set of values and minimum standards together with key players in Berlin’s club scene. We now want to build on this.
As a starting point, we will draw on the results of the last roundtable as well as the projects and formats of the Awareness Academy in recent years. In addition, another relevant basis for this joint process will be the initialresults of the Berlin Club Survey, which we will present on site.

With the support of various experts, we will discuss with you different perspectives such as Awareness, Harm Reduction & Safer Use, Intersectionality, (Gender) Diversity, Complaint Management and Community Accountability, Infrastructure, Staffing, Sustainability and Door Policy and approach a guideline for Safer Club Culture Berlin.
