Training: Raising Awareness of Diversity, Intersectionality, and Anti-Discrimination in a Club Setting

In recent years, the Club Commission has offered free pilot training sessions for Berlin-based club owners, staff, security personnel, and key figures in the club scene through the Awareness Academy and in cooperation with the Berlin State Office for Equal Treatment and Against Discrimination (LADS). This basic training was conducted in five separate sessions involving a total of 25 different Berlin clubs, event organizers, and collectives. This year, the Awareness Academy is once again offering a free course for club staff. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. On-site in Berlin Training objectives:
  • Raising awareness of forms of discrimination (with a focus on ethnic origin and racism), dimensions of diversity, and intersectionality
  • Understanding the context, terminology, as well as the AGG and house rules
  • Identifying social stereotypes and attributions
  • Self-reflection on existing filters and behavioral patterns (focus on language and conflict resolution)
  • Discussion and peer consultation on case studies from one’s own practice (reflection through mutual dialogue)
  • Strengthening individual decision-making skills in everyday work
The training is led by two experienced diversity trainers and, upon full participation, concludes with a certificate. Participation is free and the number of participants is limited.
