Call for Proposals: Development of an Advanced Module on "Accessibility"
Development of the content and curriculum for an “Advanced Module: Accessibility”
BACKGROUND
Berlin’s nightlife scene is characterized by its diverse offerings and is known both nationally and internationally for being open and tolerant. At the same time, however, studies and personal accounts show that discrimination regularly occurs in nightclubs and bars. Some venues are already addressing the issues of awareness and diversity, while others intend to do so in the future. However, just as diverse as Berlin’s club and nightlife culture is, so too are the levels of knowledge and experience regarding diversity, awareness-raising efforts, and equality measures among the individual stakeholders.
The project “Diversity-Friendly Nightlife in Berlin”—DAB for short—aims to help promote respectful and discrimination-sensitive practices at Berlin venues, reduce discrimination, and support groups affected by discrimination.
The training program “Awareness & Diversity Competence in Club Culture” was developed during the 2020 project year with input from subject matter experts and practitioners, and a preliminary outline is now available. The goal of the comprehensive training series “Awareness and Diversity Competence in Club Culture” is to support the various stakeholders in club culture, as well as entire clubs and venues, in expanding their awareness and diversity competence. The training series combines theory and practice by imparting fundamental knowledge on diversity and anti-discrimination and translating it into the various sectors and trades of club culture.
