Workshop on Nonviolent Communication

What is the difference between our everyday communication and the much-cited nonviolent communication? Whether at the club door, the bar, among party guests, or within the team: Why is it so difficult for us to remain calm and keep track of things in conflict and stressful situations? How can we express our displeasure and still remain cooperative and open with our counterpart? How can we manage to remain open, calm, and attentive even in stressful situations and conflicts by making small changes in our communication?

In this workshop, you will learn about the complexity of interpersonal communication, the pitfalls we encounter in everyday language, what appreciation means to us in communication, and how it can help us to significantly improve our interactions with one another.
Self-awareness is an essential part of this learning process. This ensures that participants do not take away superficial, ready-made solutions for a better social image, but rather practice successful communication and conflict resolution.

In addition to providing basic information, the workshop offers ample opportunity to try out and practice what has been learned in a practical setting. Participants will also have the opportunity to bring and discuss their own club-specific cases and examples.

The target group is all persons who are employed in nightlife/party settings as well as persons who actively participate in nightlife.

The workshop will be led by Sophie Kalau, psychologist and trainer for nonviolent communication. Sophie's work is characterized by a sensitive approach to the topics of anti-discrimination, diversity work, and empowerment.

The two-day free workshop is limited to 14 participants, will be held in German, and will take place on site at the Clubcommission premises.

Wednesday and Thursday, October 20 and 21, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
