Workshop: Nonviolent Communication
What is the difference between our everyday communication and the much-discussed Nonviolent Communication? Whether at the entrance to a club, at a bar, among party guests, or within a team: Why do we find it so difficult to stay calm and keep a clear head in conflict and stressful situations? How can we express our displeasure while still remaining cooperative and open to the other person? How can we make small changes in our communication to stay open, calm, and responsive in stressful situations and conflicts?
In this workshop, you will learn about the complexity of interpersonal communication, the pitfalls we encounter in everyday language, what appreciation in communication means to us, and how it can help us significantly improve our collaboration.
Self-awareness is an essential part of this learning process. This ensures that we do not settle for superficial, quick-fix solutions aimed at improving our social image, but instead practice effective communication and conflict resolution.
In addition to providing basic information, the workshop offers ample opportunity for participants to try out and practice what they have learned. Participants will also have the chance to bring and discuss their own club-specific cases and examples.
The target audience includes anyone working in the nightlife or party scene, as well as people who actively participate in nightlife.
The workshop will be led by Sophie Kalau, a psychologist and trainer in Nonviolent Communication. Sophie’s work is characterized by a sensitive approach to the topics of anti-discrimination, diversity, and empowerment.
The two-day free workshop is limited to 14 participants, will be conducted in English, and will take place on-site at the Clubcommission offices.
Wednesday and Thursday, March 16 and 17, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
