Program Content

The training program provides awareness-raising and fundamental knowledge on diversity and anti-discrimination, adapted to the various areas and roles within club culture. The focus is on practical application, helping clubs, collectives, and festivals develop expertise in awareness and diversity while receiving ongoing advisory support throughout the implementation process.

The program consists of Awareness and Diversity Basics, followed by In-depth modules with different areas of focus.

The training process addresses key questions such as:

  • What conditions are needed to ensure that a diverse audience can celebrate together as safely and inclusively as possible?
  • How can different forms of discrimination in nightlife be identified, and how should we respond?
  • How can awareness and diversity structures be established within a team?
  • Where does the responsibility of the club, festival, or collective for its guests begin and end?

Program Structure & Participation

The Awareness and Diversity Basics will take place in early May in Berlin and will be conducted in person over 1.5 days for up to 20 participants.

Participants from each club, festival, or collective should ideally come from different roles and levels within their organization. After completing the in-depth module, each participant will attend two in-depth workshops, where they will interact and exchange knowledge with participants from other venues.

Awareness and Diversity Basics (Early May 2025, in-person in Berlin) → 1.5 days
In-depth modules (Mid-May 2025, online or in-person) → 2 sessions, each 5 hours (including breaks)

The In-depth modules are divided into three focus areas:

  • Professional Roles → Booking, Public Relations, Accessibility, Awareness Work, Club Door Policies
  • Forms of Discrimination → Gender, Sexual Orientation, “Ethnic Origin,” Disability, Social Class, Anti-Muslim Racism, Antisemitism
  • Strategic Implementation → Diversity Change Management I & II, HR Policies, Legal Frameworks

Throughout the process, clubs, festivals, and collectives will receive comprehensive and individualized support to help them establish sustainable diversity and awareness structures within their organizations.
