Peer-led case consultation for clubs and collectives on how to handle incidents of discrimination

As part of our ongoing evaluation of our free Awareness Academy workshop program for Berlin’s club culture, we consistently find that participants particularly value the cross-club and cross-organization exchange regarding their own challenges in the context of awareness and anti-discrimination work. At the same time, there is a growing need for support for clubs, collectives, and event organizers in dealing with specific cases of discrimination at their own events or within their own structures.

Tone policing
Tone Policing ist ein persönlicher Angriff und angewandte Anti-Debatten-Taktik bzw. Ablenkstrategie, die darauf basiert, eine Person für den Ausdruck von Emotionen zu kritisieren. Tone Policing lenkt von der Gültigkeit, Logik und Stärke einer Aussage ab, indem es den Tonfall angreift, anstatt das Argument selbst. Die Redewendung der »wütenden schwarzen Frau« ist ein schädliches Stereotyp, das den →Rassismus gegen Frauen of Color fortbestehen lässt. Basierend auf diesem Stereotyp werden Frauen of Color oft als aggressiv, feindselig und bedrohlich dargestellt.
