Peer-led case consultation for clubs and collectives on how to handle incidents of discrimination

As part of our ongoing evaluation of our free Awareness Academy workshop program for Berlin’s club culture, we consistently find that participants particularly value the cross-club and cross-organization exchange regarding their own challenges in the context of awareness and anti-discrimination work. At the same time, there is a growing need for support for clubs, collectives, and event organizers in dealing with specific cases of discrimination at their own events or within their own structures.

Police brutality
Der Begriff Polizeigewalt wird in der Kriminologie und den Medien verwendet, um körperliche und psychische Gewalt zu beschreiben, die von Polizist:innen ausgeübt wird. Die Anwendung von Gewalt ist vom Gesetz nur unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen erlaubt und dann nur in einem verhältnismäßigen Ausmaß. Sind die Voraussetzungen gegeben und das richtige Ausmaß gewahrt, ist sie rechtmäßig, andernfalls rechtswidrig. Betroffen sind oft Drogenabhängige, Obdachlose, Sexarbeiter:innen, BIPoC oder migrantische Personen sowie Demonstrant:innen und Journalist:innen. Die Kampagne für Opfer rassistischer Polizeigewalt (KOP) ist eine politische Organisation, die sich bemüht, rassistische Übergriffe seitens der Polizei festzuhalten und Betroffene zu unterstützen. Die KOP wurde 2002 von der Beratungsstelle für Opfer rassistischer, rechter und antisemitischer Gewalt ReachOut und anderen Organisationen gegründet. Sie soll rassistische Strukturen in der Polizei darlegen und Opfern von Polizeigewalt zur Seite stehen. Hierfür informiert sie Betroffene und Zeugen über ihre Handlungsmöglichkeiten und Rechte. Sie vermittelt an Beratungsstellen und bietet mittels ihres Rechtshilfefonds finanzielle Unterstützung bei einem Prozess an.
